A Miraculous Birth, Compassion, and Clear Signs

🔮 What Do You Already Know?
No pressure — just guess! This helps you see how much you grow.

Isa, Jesus son of Maryam, is one of the greatest prophets in Islam. His story begins with the remarkable story of his mother, Maryam, a righteous woman chosen and purified by Allah.
An angel came to Maryam with news that she would have a son despite no man having touched her. She was astonished. The answer was that Allah creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He says “Be,” and it is.
❓ What word does Allah say to create something?
Maryam withdrew from her people during the pregnancy. When labor came, she was beside a date palm. Allah provided comfort, water, and ripe dates. She later returned carrying the infant Isa.
❓ What fruit did Allah provide for Maryam?
The people accused her. Maryam did not argue. She pointed to the baby. By Allah’s permission, Isa spoke from the cradle, declaring that he was a servant of Allah, that he had been given Scripture and made a prophet, and that he was commanded to pray and give charity and to be dutiful to his mother.

As Isa grew, Allah gave him the Injil and supported him with clear signs. The Qur’an describes miracles he performed by Allah’s permission: shaping the form of a bird from clay and it becoming alive, healing those born blind and those with serious skin disease, and bringing the dead to life. Every time the Qur’an mentions these extraordinary acts, the key phrase is “by Allah’s permission.”
❓ Which bird-shaped object came to life by Allah’s permission?
Isa also told people of some things they ate and stored in their houses, by knowledge Allah gave him.
He called the Children of Israel to worship Allah. He confirmed the Torah that had come before him while making lawful some things that had been forbidden.
A group of disciples supported him. In one Qur’anic passage, they asked for a table spread with food to descend from heaven as a sign that would reassure their hearts. Isa prayed, and Allah answered with a warning that such a sign carried responsibility.
❓ What did the disciples request from heaven?
The Qur’an also addresses the end of Isa’s earthly mission differently from Christian theology. Islam teaches that Isa was not killed or crucified by his enemies in the way they claimed. Allah raised him to Himself. Muslims believe Isa will return before the end of time based on authentic hadith.

The miracle spotlight for Isa is extensive: the virgin birth, speaking in infancy, healing, giving life to a bird-shaped form of clay, bringing the dead to life, and other signs—all by Allah’s permission.
Illustration prompts must never show Isa or Maryam in a way that implies a prophet is visible. Use an empty cradle beside an oil lamp; a date palm beside a spring; clay bird forms resting on a work surface; a healed person’s discarded walking stick without showing the healing scene; a table spread with food under a luminous sky; and clouds over an ancient city to symbolize Allah raising Isa.
Activities can ask children to repeat the phrase **“by Allah’s permission”** whenever a miracle card appears. This protects the central Islamic belief that prophets do not possess independent divine power.
❓ What must children say when a miracle is mentioned?
A comparison activity can explain respectfully that Muslims love and honor Isa but do not worship him. He is the Messiah, a messenger, and a servant of Allah.
The chapter ends with two connected lessons: miracles point to Allah’s power, and loving a prophet means following the truth he taught about worshiping Allah alone.
✨ Miracle Spotlight
By Allah’s permission, Isa spoke in infancy, healed the blind and sick, fashioned a bird form from clay that became alive, and brought the dead to life.
🌙 Pause & Imagine
Close your eyes for ten seconds and imagine the environment from this story without imagining the prophet’s appearance. What do you hear: wind, animals, water, tools, footsteps, or a busy marketplace? What colors would the sky, stone, sand, wood, or plants have looked like? The goal is to enter the setting while keeping the prophet respectfully unseen.
💡 Did You Know?
Prophetic stories in the Qur’an are not arranged as one ordinary history textbook. The same prophet may appear in several surahs, with each passage highlighting a different lesson. That is why good storytelling should connect verses carefully instead of pretending every detail appears in one place.

🌟 Famous Stories
A Table Spread with Food 📖 Qur'anAl-Ma'idah 5:112-115
The disciples of Prophet Isa, peace be upon him, were his loyal followers. One day, they made a special request. They asked if his Lord, Allah, could send down a table spread with food from the heavens for them. They explained that they wanted it to be a sign, so their hearts could be at peace and they would know for certain that Isa, peace be upon him, spoke the truth. They also wanted to eat from it and be witnesses to this great miracle.
Prophet Isa, peace be upon him, reminded them to have faith and be mindful of Allah. But his followers explained their wish again, so he turned to Allah in prayer. Isa, son of Maryam, asked Allah to send down a table from heaven that could be a special festival for all of them—for the first and the last of them—and a clear sign from Him. He finished his prayer by calling Allah the best of providers.
Allah, the Most Powerful, answered the prayer. He declared that He would send the table down. However, He also gave a very stern warning. Allah said that if any of them disbelieved after receiving this amazing sign, He would punish them with a punishment like no other. This teaches us that seeing a great miracle from Allah is a huge responsibility that requires even stronger faith and gratitude.
💡 Lesson: Seeing a miracle is a great responsibility that requires even stronger faith and gratitude.
❓ Quick questions
Question 1 / 3
What did the followers of Prophet Isa (peace be upon him) ask for?
A Baby Speaks from the Cradle 📖 Qur'anMaryam 19:27-34
After Maryam gave birth to Prophet Isa, peace be upon him, she carried him back to her people. When they saw her with a baby, they were very surprised and accused her of doing something terrible. Maryam was known for being a pure and devoted worshipper of Allah, and they could not understand how she could have a child. She was deeply saddened by their words, but Allah had told her not to speak to anyone that day.
Following Allah's command, Maryam did not argue or try to explain. Instead, she simply pointed to the baby boy in her arms, Isa. The people were confused and even mocked her. They said, "How can we speak to someone who is a child in the cradle?" It seemed impossible to them. But they were about to witness an incredible miracle that would prove Maryam's innocence and announce the special status of her son.
Then, by the power of Allah, the infant Isa spoke clearly from the cradle. He said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet." He continued, saying Allah had made him blessed wherever he was and had commanded him to perform prayer and give charity. This was the very first public miracle of Prophet Isa, peace be upon him. It was a clear sign from Allah to defend his honorable mother and announce his mission as a prophet.
💡 Lesson: Allah can give His chosen messengers amazing abilities, even as infants, to prove their truthfulness.
