Prophets Timeline & World Map Challenge
Mapping the Light of Guidance Through Time

The Beginning of the Journey
Imagine a vast map spread out before you, stretching from the lush gardens of the beginning to the bustling cities of the final revelation. Our journey through the stories of the 25 prophets mentioned in the Qurโan is not just a list of names; it is a single, beautiful chain of guidance sent by Allah to all of mankind. By His permission, these noble men were chosen to light the way across different eras and lands, teaching us that there is no god but Allah.
We start in the earliest era, often called the time of the First Fathers. From the first man, Adam (peace be upon him), to the great flood in the time of Nuh (peace be upon him), these events took place in the ancient cradle of civilization. While the exact dates are known only to Allah, we know these early messengers laid the foundation of faith for every generation that followed.
โ Which prophet is known for the great flood?
The Era of Great Nations
As populations grew and spread, Allah sent messengers to specific nations across the Middle East and surrounding areas. Ibrahim (peace be upon him), the 'Friend of Allah,' is a central figure who traveled between Iraq, ash-Sham (Greater Syria), and the Hijaz (Arabia). His sons, Ismail and Ishaq (peace be upon them), continued this legacy, establishing roots that would lead to many future prophets, including the family of Ya'qub (peace be upon him).
During this time, we also see messengers sent to specific tribes, such as Hud (peace be upon him) to the people of 'Ad in Southern Arabia and Salih (peace be upon him) to the people of Thamud. Because these civilizations are so old, historians often debate the exact locations of their ruins, but the Qur'an remains our surest guide that these nations once flourished before they turned away from the truth.
๐ค Stop and Think
If the message of every prophet was the same, why do you think Allah sent so many different messengers to different places?
โ Where did Ibrahim (peace be upon him) travel?
Guidance in the West and the East
The story then moves toward the land of Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula. Here, we follow the life of Musa (peace be upon him) and his brother Harun (peace be upon him) as they led their people out of hardship. This era is filled with signs and miracles, all occurring by Allahโs permission. Later, in the lands of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), great kings and prophets like Dawud and Sulayman (peace be upon them) showed how faith can rule a mighty kingdom.
Other messengers were sent to diverse locations, like Yunus (peace be upon him) to the city of Nineveh in what is now Iraq. Whether in the desert, the city, or by the sea, the message remained consistent. While we try to place these on a map, we must remember that the exact borders of ancient lands were very different from the maps we see today.
โ Who were the two brothers sent to Egypt?

The Final Golden Chain
As the centuries passed, the era of the 'Children of Israel' drew to a close with the miraculous birth of 'Isa (peace be upon him), the son of Maryam. He was the last messenger before the final seal of the prophets. The gap between 'Isa and the final messenger is a time of waiting, where the world prepared for the ultimate completion of Allahโs message to all of humanity.
๐ก Did You Know?
The Qur'an tells us that there were many more prophets sent to humanity than the 25 mentioned by name.
Finally, in the 7th Century CE, the light of guidance returned to the deserts of Makkah. Muhammad ๏ทบ, the final messenger, was sent not to just one tribe or land, but as a mercy to all the worlds. With his coming, the map of guidance was completed, and the Qur'an was preserved as a map for our hearts until the Day of Judgment.
โ Who is the final prophet in the chain?
Navigating the Uncertainties
When we look at timelines, it is important to be honest about what we do not know. The Qurโan does not give us specific years or centuries for many prophets, and authentic Hadith are careful not to provide dates that cannot be verified. Many dates found in history books are approximate or based on older traditions that may not be fully accurate. We focus on the lessons rather than the exact calendar day.
This map of the 25 prophets is a gift for us to reflect upon. It shows that no matter where or when people lived, Allah never left them without a guide. As you look back at the chain from Adam (peace be upon him) to Muhammad ๏ทบ, remember that you are part of this global community of believers, following the same path of tawhid (oneness of Allah) that has existed since the very first day.
๐ Source Check
Prophet names and general regions are sourced from the Qur'an and Seerah; specific dates and map coordinates are labeled as approximate or uncertain as they rely on historical interpretation rather than divine revelation.

๐ฑ Reflection: What can I learn?
Look at a modern world map. How many of the regions mentioned today (like Iraq, Egypt, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia) can you find? Think about how the message traveled from these places to where you live now.
๐ฃ Teach it back
If you had to explain to a friend how all the prophets are connected, even if they lived thousands of years apart, what would you say is the most important thing they all shared?
